I am from Wakayama City, Japan. After working in a university office for several years in Japan, I joined the International Internship Program and came to Rome, Georgia in October 1991. I taught K-5 Japanese at a Fulton County school for 14 years and primary grades at a Fulton County charter school for 5 years. I joined Riverwood in August 2013.
I have a B.A. from Doshisha Women's College, an M.Ed. from Berry College, an Ed.S. from Mercer University, and a Ph.D. from Georgia State University. The fields of my certifications are Japanese, E.S.O.L., Early Childhood Education, and Teacher Support Specialist. My expertise is in foreign language education, bilingualism, biliteracy, literacy development, and multicultural education.
